Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our post oak, shipping, and BBQ tips.

Product & Quality

What makes your post oak different?+

Our post oak is sourced exclusively from Texas Hill Country, properly seasoned for 6-12 months, and kiln-dried to 15% moisture or less. This ensures clean-burning, ready-to-use wood that meets USDA interstate shipping requirements.

What size are the wood splits?+

Each split is approximately 16-18 inches long and 3-5 inches in diameter—perfect for offset smokers and traditional BBQ pits. The splits are hand-cut for consistent sizing.

Is the wood ready to use immediately?+

Yes! Our kiln-dried post oak is ready to burn right out of the box. The kiln-drying process removes excess moisture and eliminates pests, so there's no additional seasoning required.

What's the moisture content of your wood?+

Our post oak is dried to 15% moisture content or less. This is ideal for clean burning and consistent heat output without the excessive smoke that comes from green or wet wood.

Shipping & Delivery

How is the wood shipped?+

Our post oak is carefully packaged in sturdy cardboard boxes designed for safe shipping. The wood is cross-stacked for stability and boxes include ventilation holes to prevent moisture buildup.

How long does shipping take?+

Orders placed before 2pm CT ship same day. Standard delivery takes 2-5 business days depending on your location. We ship to all 50 states.

Do you ship internationally?+

Currently, we only ship within the United States due to agricultural regulations and shipping costs. We hope to expand in the future.

Can I track my order?+

Yes! You'll receive a tracking number via email once your order ships. You can also track your order on our website using your order number.

Storage & Usage

How should I store the wood?+

Store your post oak in a covered, well-ventilated area off the ground. A garage, shed, or covered porch works great. Keep it dry and allow for air circulation to maintain optimal moisture levels.

How long does the wood last in storage?+

Properly stored kiln-dried post oak can last indefinitely. Just keep it dry and off the ground. Unlike green wood, it won't continue to season or change significantly over time.

How much wood do I need for a brisket?+

Plan on 2-3 pounds of wood per hour of cooking. For a full brisket cook (10-14 hours), we recommend 20-30 pounds. Our 30 lb Pitmaster Pack is perfect for this.

Can I use this wood in a pellet smoker?+

Our splits are designed for traditional offset smokers and wood-burning pits. For pellet smokers, you'd need pellets specifically made for those units. Our wood is too large for pellet hoppers.

What payment methods do you accept?+

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay through our secure checkout.

Do you offer wholesale pricing?+
